Today marks 7 years since I attended the GCA Ladder Club. In 2018 I had exhibited at one trade show with collection of 25 punny watercolour cards (some designs of which I still sell today! Including this cute hermit crab design!) I had entered the Henries Young talent award (I didn’t win and I’m too old to enter any more! 😂 There should be a middle aged talent category!!) And had done a handful of local London markets. But apart from that I was greener than the Grinch. I learned so much from that ladder club and gained so much confidence.

Now it’s 2025 and I have to pinch myself a little - I’m still buddies with Louise from @twoforjoyillustration who I met at that Ladder Club 7 years ago - and we are both still in business!! Citrus Bunn designs are sold internationally and we work with amazing agents, distributors and huge multiple chains of stores across the UK as well as an incredible bunch of independent shops. I wish someone had told that newbie 7 years ago she had all of this ahead of her - she would have been pleased as punch!

It’s been an absolute delight to work with the design team to bring our feather filled vision to life.

So yesterday was a wild day - I was invited back to my secondary school to give a talk to the art students to inspire them to pursue artistic careers! I was really nervous having never done any public speaking but the girls were really sweet and had LOADS of questions.

After 19 years it was really strange to go back to my old school which was the exact same but also really different. Also, had to go back to the drama room where I met dear old Ben during AS levels!

The kids couldn’t believe that I had almost no images of my art work as smart phones hadn’t been invented yet! All I have is blurry pictures of my friends pissing about… which I didn’t show obviously!

Woweee! What a start to 2025! We had a fab Christmas in the Atlantic Ocean with The Bunns (swipe for a couple of holiday snaps) and since then it’s like our feet have barely touched the ground! When we returned from cruisin’ we had a flurry of social & renovation plans (🤪) followed all too soon by Top Drawer 😧

The show never fails to impress as we were surrounded by so much talent and lots of friendly faces and now, a week later we are just starting to feel back in control after packing so many lovely orders from stockists old and new 📦 📦

The RSPB runs over 200 shops, all supporting conservation efforts that protect birds and wildlife for future generations. Pop into your local RSPB shop to explore their range and pick up some of our bird-inspired designs.

This summer, we also had the pleasure of joining a bird tour with Birds of Poole Harbour, a charity dedicated to bird conservation and education. Based in Dorset, they run fantastic events like bird boat tours and osprey monitoring projects. It was an inspiring experience to see their work up close, and we’ll be supporting their initiatives with our charity Christmas cards in 2025.

Arty-ventures outside of greetings cards 2024. Whilst I left my full time scenic film potential behind in London I am still working here and there on arty bits beside Citrus Bunn. From painting lots of Gladiator 2 flags in our front bedroom in Bournemouth (who’d have thought!!) to a Lord of the rings themed bedroom mural commission, some mural work for a local NHS centre and a little mural in Citrus Bunn HQ to brighten the place up! Also lots of sign writing for some fabulous weddings and events around Dorset 🥰

We LOVE our Zebra printer! 🦓

Etsy orders are a continuous little trickle which the Zebra has made a lot easier! Things which we’ve figured out over the 7 years which make the daily Etsy orders easier…

Etsy connects directly to Royal Mail and generates the labels which print from our thermal Zebra so there’s no typing/writing any addresses. God send!

Having a standing desk which is solely for packing orders with stickers, envelopes, tape, tissue paper etc all on hand.

Having open shelving with 20-30 of each design on the wall so we can quickly grab a card and pop it in an envelope.

Sticking fun illustrated round stickers over the back flap of the envelope to stop any mishaps with flaps coming unstuck!
